Deborah is a great host!
Great spot! Close to Miguel’s and the central RRG vibe.
Hot tub was great at the end of each day.
it was nice
Pros:
1. Check-in was super easy. Leslie at the office was very welcoming and provided a detailed map of how to get to the cabin.
2. The inside of the cabin was clean.
3. The beds had mattress covers and were all pretty comfortable.
4. The hot tub was nice.
Cons:
1. As other mentioned, the road back to the cabin is treacherous. I wouldn’t recommend arriving after dark.
2. The only outdoor furniture were two very uncomfortable plastic chairs and 2 extremely dirty, unusable folding chairs. The wooden chairs shown in the picture are not actually at the cabin. There were 3 people in our group so it would have been nice to comfortably been able to enjoy the outside.
3. The couch which is different than the one shown in pictures is uneven and jolts to one side anytime someone gets up or sits down. The kitchen table and chairs were wobbly too.
4. They want you to bring all of your trash to the office at the end of your stay which is a 12-15 minute drive. If you stay more than a couple of days or your trash does not fit in the can that holds about 2-3 bags outside of the cabin you have to drop off your trash. We only left the cabin once very early in our stay and making an extra trip to haul trash up and down the road I really didn’t feel comfortable traveling on is a deal breaker for me.
Things we felt neutral about but are worth noting:
1. The pictures make the cabin look isolated. It’s not. We could see our neighbors in their hot tub and vise versus.
2. The kitchen supplies aren’t great. There was no cutting board, limited pots and pans, and many of the dishes had chips.
3. The power also went out while we were there. The water is brought in and works on a pump so we also didn’t have any running water/couldn’t use the toilet the last morning we were there. I put this in the neutral category because I don’t know if the power goes out a lot or not, but it was part of our experience.
4. The group was surprised that the cabin didn’t offer any of the basic items you find in most cabins - no paper, pen, deck of cards, board games, liter (the fire place requires that you light the pilot to start it).
the place was beautiful. just a bit disappointed with the giant set of rules and cleanup chores and drastically high fees if you were not to follow.. when I paid almost $300 a night for just me and my dog. it's in a great location and I was surprised with how updated it was. I understand I'm in the woods but the bug and spider infestation was a bit much, I didn't use the hottub. and most of the light bulbs are burnt out for the backdeck and hottub patio. really great location with rockhouse being just at the bottom of the driveway, so cool. I'd probably book again if I ever wanna go back. I'd include in the cabin description of how dog friendly all the restaurants and shops are because wow, that was a pleasant surprise!!
Stayed at Boulder Lodge for 3 nights. I was stuck between 3 and 4 star. It was nice and i dont want to give a local business a hard time.. A bit pricey for what it turned out to be. Booked from Airbnb, $850. I was bummed about the "welcome packet". It was 3 pages worth of rules and chores.. for $850 I wouldn't expect a set of rules and chores. ALSO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND 4WDRIVE. The road to get there is dirt, has an insane incline and the road is extremely narrow with a terribly steep cliff. I have a mid sized suv, all wheel drive with brand new tires and was very nervous using it. If you slow down or stop you might end up rolling backwards off a cliff. Not an issue because the cabin is beautifuly situated at an elevation truly set in the woods away from road traffic. Just a friendly heads up.
My two main cabin filter choices were indoor fireplace and outdoor hottub. I stayed the first weekend of September but you can't use the indoor fireplace until after September 15th otherwise they'd charge you a $100 fee. And the pilot wasn't lit so I couldn't even suck up paying a fee and using it anyway..
They also have an air conditioning rule of no lower than 80 degrees.. that's insane when I'm paying almost $300 a night, I should be able to use the amenities exactly how I want.. and I wouldn't stay here in the winter because they have a 55 degree heat rule where you can't set it higher than 55 degrees.. theres a couple hundred dollar fee for breaking that rule too.
Even though i got charged a cleaning fee upon booking.. They also make you wash your dishes and inconveniently take the trash out which is about a 12 minute drive to the office for drop off.. thankfully I don't have a washer because they also request you wash your towels and bedding if you do have a washer... I did appreciate how well stocked the kitchenware, bedding and towels were. Even papertowel which I didn't think to bring.
I'm here on vacation spending almost $$300 a night and have strict rules on heat, ac, fireplace, and cleanup? I'm by no means messy but really? They also told me to be sparing on the water usage.. bring your own drinking water too. Oh and even though it's dog friendly and I paid an extra fee for my dog to stay, they're not allowed on any furniture.. there's also a couple hundred fee for that too..
The hottub area was nice but I didn't even use it. I understand I'm out in the woods but there's zero bug maintenance.. giant spiders nests, wasp nests, all over the deck and hottub shelter, I was terrified to really walk around outside the cabin deck area. It had a bunch of string lighting which would have been pretty if 75% of the bulbs weren't burnt out..
Cabin was nice inside overall. Spacious and mostly clean. The wood is beautiful. But there was a huge ant problem upon arrival. I spent about an hour killing what had to be 50 ants.. and spent a great deal of time cleaning them up.
Decent experience but I wish it was a bit cleaner and they didn't give you a laundry list of rules.
I'd still use this place again, just a bit pricey and not as clean as I'd hoped. Office people were friendly upon arrival and directions to the cabin were simple. Right at the bottom of the cabin entrance there's rockhouse restaurant which is so convenient. They serve alcohol and great food so if you want to have some drinks you don't have to worry about drinking and driving.
Deborah communicated well.. Great location for mountain getaway. May want to have 4WD or AWD to navigate driveway and turning. Red River Rockhouse, Miguel’s & Hop’s were close by good eats. Peaceful roomy cabin. Wifi and Roku TV were great.
Cabin was amazing!!! No complaints! But definitely scary getting to the location bc of the gravel road and all up hill. But after the second day, we got use to it!! No complaints on the cabin! We had a blast!
We rented this cabin while we were visiting for a wedding. The location was perfect, and very close to Natural Bridge, Miguel's and other restaurants! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for the weekend and the hot tub was a huge plus! I would recommend staying here and will be returning!
Exceeded expectations! Cozy cabin in the woods. Would definitely rent again next time in the area!
Wonderful little get away cabin. Would definitely stay again.
Wow. This cabin exceeded our expectations, the location was great, right off of the major road, we were 5 minutes from Miguel's and Gorge Underground. Less than 20 minutes from all the trails we wanted to visit and the IGA grocery store.
The views from the cabin were great, the service from the office was outstanding and the hot tub was the perfect temp when we arrived.
Internet was fast, beds were soft, and the overall cleanliness was a 4.5 out of 5. We would absolutely stay here again or one of the other neighboring cabins.
perfect little place for a weekend getaway. loved the hot tub!
Beautiful location, amazing curbside appeal with the huge boulder in front, really nice hot tub and deck with string lights.
This cabin fit our family of 6 well—the kids took the two beds (and couch) in the loft, and my husband and I had the first floor bedroom.
Other observations: the bathroom is roomy, and the shower had good pressure and got nice and hot. The kitchen was somewhat stocked/somewhat not—so I would bring anything unusual that you might need for your recipes. It did have some vegetable oil and simple salt and pepper shakers, silverware, coffee mugs, plates. Did not have coffee filters so we had to fall back to paper towels. The fireplace was nice, the couch in the living room is quite small (and kind of moves around) so I was glad that I read a review to bring camp chairs for extra seating. The dining room table is very tippy as if a center support is missing. The appliances were all just fine and sufficient to make simple meals. The fire pit was great, and we picked up firewood from the rental office that was offered to us (that was really nice). The lighting was difficult—either very very bright or extremely dim. One suggestion would be some nice floor lamps.
The location is quite close to another cabin, but this wasn’t an issue at all. The driveway to the cabin is extremely steep in places and narrow (two vehicles can’t pass each other). It stressed the heck out of my husband in our Honda Odyssey when we arrived in the dark. “No one talk!” he commanded as he white-knuckled the steering wheel on the drive up (as we all snickered), but it got easier the more times we did it.
The cabin is really close to great hikes at Natural Bridge. (Highly recommend.) We ate at the Mexican restaurant right by the rental place. Lots of local bourbon options at nearby stores. Overall, great value and the hot tub was really the selling point. Very nice hot tub compared to item similar cabins that we’ve stayed at. Also—comfortable beds!
The cabin is a great getaway and feels very immersed in nature, while still close to many things. The photos make the cabin look secluded, but it shares a driveway with another cabin and you sit right next to it when outside. It is pretty minimal when it comes to furnishings and feeling cozy, but the heat worked well and the hot tub was awesome and private. Communication with the host was quick, which was important since the water tank froze while we were there in winter. Overall it's a great place and I would recommend!
Nice, cozy cabin in a great location.
My fiancé, me and our pup had a great weekend in Boulder lodge
great location, close to trails and local places. hot tub is awesome
We came for the amazing climbing at the Red and this was the perfect landing pad for us! The hot tub was ready when we arrived and the house was clean and cool. The setting was quiet, beautiful and rustic. A couple recommendations: 1. Buy drinking water before you arrive: water out of the faucet is from a tank and not recommended for drinking. 2. The gravel road to the house is a bit steep and winding, so it's worth planning to arrive during daylight hours.
Absolutely wonderful little cabin. The hot tub was great and the scenery was wonderful.
The cabin was very nice, comfy beds and the location was the most beautiful that we've stayed in. My stepdaughter loved the humungous rocks around it. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back!!!
We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! The location was beautiful and the cabin had great features. We especially loved the cute hot tub with the lights! We would definitely come back and book the cabin again for our next climbing trip at the Red River Gorge.
New Review
The cabin was very nice and unique being built on top of and around large beautiful boulders. Relaxing in the hot tub looking over the immediate cabin area and woods was the highlight after a long day of hiking. Every day there was a new place to explore! Tons of privacy in a secluded spot-easy walk to waterfall along the road. We will be back for sure. And the smart TV w/netflix wa awesome!! and great welcome packet.
Enjoyed our stay. Loved the cabin. Will be back.
