The Red River Gorge is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky. Geologically, it is part of the Pottsville Escarpment. Much of the Gorge is located inside the Daniel Boone National Forest and has been subsequently reserved as the Red River Gorge Geological Area, an area of around 29,000 acres.
Natural Bridge State Resort Park

Nada Tunnel
Nada Tunnel is a historic 900-foot (270 m) long one lane tunnel on KY 77. Formerly a railway tunnel, it has often been described as the “Gateway to Red River Gorge” for the shortcut it provides motorists to the Red River Gorge.
Built for the Dana Lumber Company between 1910 and 1911, Nada Tunnel (pronounced nay-duh by locals) was an anagram of Dana. Solid limestone was blasted with dynamite and dug out with steam machinery and hand tools, with two teams working from each side of the ridge.
Pilot Knob Nature Preserve
Pilot Knob State Nature Preserve is located in Powell County, Kentucky, USA. A 730-foot outcrop is believed to be the place where Daniel Boone and his companion John Finley first looked out over the area in 1769.
